Very disappointing experience at Curry Club in Rugby. I went with a friend and unfortunately the food, service and overall experience were poor. The tables were dirty when we arrived, and the food itself was bland and not spicy at all. When I asked the waiter if we could have the food made spicy, he told us that “we wouldn’t like it”, rather than simply allowing us to choose the level of spice we wanted. The most concerning part was the bill. We were told that some extra items were free, but when it came time to pay, the waiter said he needed to “review the bill” and then added those items to the amount we were expected to pay. There was no confusion on our part — we were clearly told the extras were free and were then charged for them. Having since looked through reviews from other diners, it appears that similar complaints have been made about unexpected items being added to bills. What is particularly frustrating is seeing what seem to be the same sort of complaints being met with dismissive or nonsensical responses rather than the issue being properly addressed. Overall, poor food, poor service, dirty tables and a very uncomfortable experience when it came to paying. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this restaurant and I certainly won't be returning. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Order type: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £30–40

Two of us — the bill came to £75. The food itself was actually alright. Truth is truth. Unfortunately, the experience was poor enough that I’d recommend going somewhere else. The waiter seemed to keep hijacking the evening, bringing out “free” extras that were later added to the bill. At the end, after we questioned the price, he said, “I thought there were four of you.” When did we ever say there were four? We both specifically asked for spicy food. Not one chilli was seen or tasted. When we asked about it, the response was essentially, “You’ll suffer in the morning.” We eventually had to ask for a side of actual green chillies ourselves. We’re both in our mid-30s — we know what level of spice we can handle. The whole thing felt like a series of assumptions being made on our behalf. There appeared to be one person in the kitchen rushing everything, while the waiter seemed more interested in managing the table than simply taking the order and getting it right. We’d had a full week of training in Rugby from up North and just wanted a decent meal afterwards. Instead, we ended up somewhere with flickering lights, stained tablecloths and an atmosphere that felt well past its best. The food was good. The service and overall experience weren’t. If you’re spending £75 for two people, there are plenty of places where you can get good food, few waiters walking around to serve you, without all the unnecessary drama. I’d go somewhere else.
