Made the trip out to Katsuretsu-An (Cutlets An), a set-meal spot that specializes in fried pork cutlets, and it delivered. Ordered the hire-katsu set (pork tenderloin cutlet) and the ginger-grilled pork loin set. The tonkatsu portion is genuinely huge — roughly three times what you'd get at chains like Katsumasa or Saboten back in Taiwan, one big cutlet covering the whole plate. The tenderloin was lean and tender, the panko crust crisp and not greasy, clearly fresh out of the fryer. A little mustard and it's spot on. The ginger-grilled pork was solid too — thin pork with onions in a savory-sweet sauce that goes well with rice, balanced by the shredded cabbage and corn salad on the side. Both come as full teishoku sets with miso soup, rice, and pickled cucumber — generous portions, sides done with care, not afterthoughts. Strong value for the price (¥1,000-2,000). If you want a proper, freshly fried cutlet with serious portions, it's worth going out of your way for.
