Alright y’all, this is your sign to support other Japanese restaurants in Philly, besides this one. Lovely service, great atmosphere, but overpriced food. I realize this is a very high rent area, but some of these items were ridiculous. The cucumber and watermelon salad was probably the standout. Fresh and delicious. The mentaiko omelette was also quite tasty. The “Caesar salad” in the tofu skins was $16 and not worth it. The Kare Pan was pretty much a single bun for $15. But, what brings me here today is the “Katsu Curry”. “Katsu” is the shortened Japanese adaptation of the English word “cutlet”. Here’s the thing though: IT DOESN’T COME WITH MEAT. $26 for rice, a little bit of veg, and Curry! It’s a $10 extra add on for the meat! So, $36 for something you could get for half the price at fantastic Japanese restaurants in Philly. Not worth the hype. Loved our server, I will think of her often. But never again. Price per person: $50–60 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Very interesting place and great experience. Food was good, but didnt quite make it to 5 stars. Had a 6 person dinner so got to try a lot of things. My favorites were the Pork Secreto, Steak, the egg was phenominal and I dont usually like scrambled eggs, and both cooked and raw salmon. The drinks we had werent great and the black sesame dessert needed more black sesame. Overall good time and decent price for the creativity. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $80–90

I feel bad writing this because the service and ambiance were great.. but my god the food was horrendous. To start with the good.. the place is beautiful. It's a well designed space with an open kitchen concept and cool vibes throughout. The 80s music was fun. The best part of our experience was the service. We came here for my birthday dinner and my friend must have put a note in the reservation because the host who welcomed me in wished me a happy birthday. The two people at the front were so nice and took me right to the table even though my friend wasn't there yet. Our server was great too. He had the perfect balance of being attentive and chill at the same time. He also wished me a happy birthday right away and brought a complimentary ice cream at the end of the meal. And now the bad.. the food. I honestly can't believe how bad the food was across the board. We ordered 5 dishes (which are very small) and the only dish we finished was the hot dog. No exaggeration, a hot dog in pastry with ketchup and mayo was the best thing we ate at a bougie Japanese restaurant. Here's everything else we ordered: Kobachi- The mushrooms were totally bland. They didn't taste sauteed, they didn't taste marinated, and they had a really off putting chew (and I love mushrooms). Two of the other bowls had the same salty sauce which made the veggies unidentifiable and everything taste the same. One of the bowls was just straight up avocado. The sweet potato one was good. Kare Pan- This meat donut is supposed to be their signature dish. I'm baffled. I don't know if we were just there on an off night but ours wasn't fully cooked. In addition to the raw doughy inside, there was literally not a speck of meat to be found in the meat donut. The filling was bland and had a pastey consistency. I can't express how bad this dish was. Pork bao- This one actually had meat in it. Unfortunately, it had the same problem with a total lack of flavor. I'm not trying to be mean, but I feel like you'd actually have to try to get a pork bun to be this bland. Nikumiso stuffed pepper- The first bite of this one was actually pretty good and we thought we might've found a dish we liked. Unfortunately, once we cut into the middle the sauce was totally overwhelming. It was so sickly sweet that you couldn't taste the pepper or the chicken at all. The moral of this story is that Dancerobot is a dud. It has all the makings of a great new spot, but the food definitely kills the vibe. Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $50–60
