We drove all the way from San Francisco to celebrate my husband’s birthday and chose The Edge because of the view and the reputation. For 2–3 weeks prior to our reservation, I called multiple times and specifically requested a lake-view table. I completely understand that such requests cannot be guaranteed, but I repeatedly asked what time would give us the best chance and was told 8 PM. When we arrived, there were only a few people waiting at the bar. To our disbelief, the hostess (I believe her name was Mya) called another party and seated them at the exact tables we had been requesting for weeks, while we were left waiting. Ten minutes later, she came over and casually said, “Sorry, those tables are unavailable.” That made absolutely no sense. If they were unavailable, why were other guests seated there right in front of us? It felt disrespectful and dishonest. Since it was late and we had driven hours for a special occasion, we reluctantly stayed. The kitchen staff did an amazing job and the food itself was excellent. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. Our server, Mike, was attentive until we placed our order and then practically disappeared. He would walk past us speaking while continuing to walk away without even stopping. Nobody asked about steak temperatures, which is shocking considering I ordered Wagyu and my husband ordered elk loin. My meal was not cooked the way I would have wanted, but there was no opportunity to mention it because no one checked on us. To make matters worse, once we finished eating, we constantly felt rushed to pay and leave. I understand employees want to go home, but when guests are spending over $300 to celebrate a special occasion, they expect hospitality, not to feel like an inconvenience. The kitchen staff deserves praise, but the front-of-house experience was disappointing from beginning to end. Poor communication, broken promises, inattentive service, and being rushed out completely overshadowed what should have been a memorable birthday celebration. There are far too many outstanding restaurants around Lake Tahoe to justify returning here. If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or any special occasion, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Special occasions deserve places that make you feel valued, not ignored. We came to The Edge for my birthday. After golfing at Edgewood all day, we were ready for an amazing meal with 5 of our friends for a total party of 6 people. I ordered the Lobster which was around $70 and it was literally 2 bites (see photo)! I literally asked the server for a quarter to put next to the lobster so people can see how small it actually is. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. We ordered the bread for $8 and it came out with 3 pieces of bread. We are a party of 6... why wouldn't the server either (A) let us know we need to order 2 or bring out enough for the table. Our friend ordered the salmon which was also quite small. Another friend ordered the elk which was very gamey. My husband ordered the wagyu which he enjoyed but again small for the price. Very underwhelming. Beautiful atmosphere, but I would skip for anything other than a cocktail. Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We dined at The Edge Restaurant & Lounge during our honeymoon and had a very enjoyable experience. Although our table did not have a lake view, the quality of the food and service more than made up for it. The service was attentive, warm, and professional throughout the evening. A special highlight was the bread service — incredibly soft bread served with three types of butter, which was a wonderful start to the meal. The roast chicken was cold-smoked, beautifully cooked, and absolutely delicious. Overall, a fantastic dining experience driven by great food and excellent service. We truly enjoyed the evening and would happily return. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
