I had an amazing experience at Elmasry Halal Egyptian Cuisine. The hospitality alone sets this place apart, the owner went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, taken care of, and genuinely appreciated. You can tell there’s real pride and heart behind everything here. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, with authentic Egyptian taste that really stands out. From the seasoning to the presentation, everything exceeded expectations. This is the kind of place you don’t just visit once, you keep coming back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for incredible halal food and top-tier service. Had a chicken shawarma plate from Elmasry and it was delicious! The shawarma was well seasoned and had a satisfying texture. The rice was also tasty. Portion size was certainly generous, making the already reasonable price an even better value. The owner is friendly and easy to chat with. 1st off - This is how you run a business, especially in the food service industry, where to be successful everything needs to be top notch. Well I’ll tell you what, Gharib is downtown on the corner of SW 3rd & Washington to it right. As you approach his spot or even just walking past you will get a loud friendly greeting “My friends, how we doing today?” Instantly Gharib the owner makes you feel welcomedand if you take the time to engage in conversation with this man, in between him hooking up orders, within minutes he makes you feel like family. 2nd - Gharib’s spot has been downtown since 2008 doing things proper. Service top notch. Quality and freshness of all the ingredients top notch. Value and portion size for the dolla dolla bills spent.definitely top notch. So if ya’ll been sleeping on this place, make sure next time you are downtown, make a point to stop by and fill your belly. 3rd - Now to the FOOD alone. I’ve already said a bit about it but take a look at the photo of my order, it speaks for itself. Ingredients—quality. Traditional Family Recipes—Thank you to all of the generations of Gharib’s family who created and passed down these family secrets. Flavor aka fat kid get in ma belly — I cannot even describe how good..it’s just simply AMAZING. Summary - Support Portland, support local, support the good people doing things right. Come say hi to this guy and not only will you leave with a stuffed belly, but you will make a new friend. Thank you for keeping it real Gharib I’ll be back soon!!
