Our first time here! Food was decent, portions small, the inside is okay (not fancy or modern but it’s clean). However, the terrible service sealed it for us - the lady behind the bar who was also our server was unfriendly, rude and unhelpful. We felt bad asking for things we needed (like napkins and utensils) because she....seemed unhappy to see us and basically ignored us after taking our order. We had to ask for water after we sat. Our kid also asked for an extra glass to share her drink with her sister and was ignored. We don't look like Spanish speakers so maybe that was it? It's not a family friendly place - suggest takeout if you go there at all. We won’t be returning. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

I called to place an order for 2 fajitas the lady repeated my order then says i dont speak English. She put the phone down and left me on hold when i asked for someone whos speaks English and did not come back. I drove to the restaurant and she came to me speaking English and when i asked her was she the one taking the calls she looked at the phone grabbed it and hung up. I asked her why did she say she can't speak English when she has taken my order on many other days then she starts talking in Spanish as if she can't speak English at all. I told her that is bad business and not godd customer service at all and i will make a complaint about this issue. Today is 4/17/2026 time 9:15pm at the Silver Spring location. Service: 1

After a failed first breakfast attempt we happened to walk by el norteño and decided to give it a shot. We walked away full and very happy. This no frills neighborhood place gives off a hole in the wall vibe, but the food is seriously delicious and well priced. The staff was friendly but not overly attentive as we sat out on the patio—which is honestly the way we like it. They had excellent food recommendations and everything came out fast and hot. The pupusas were made to order and when they came to the table they were hot hot lava, but after the heat subsided they were absolutely delicious. Just the right proportion of masa to filling. My partner can’t stop raving about the crema that came with the desayunos tipicos. And the yucca with chicarones were also excellent. We wouldn’t hesitate to come here again and again.
