Based on the reviews below, I went to El Puerto one rainy afternoon. Judging from the large number of people there, it must be popular. However, notice that nearly all the reviews here are years old. I can tell you that none of the dishes mentioned in the reviews are on the menu now. In fact it looks like there has been an ownership or management change. Still, it is popular. I ordered the most expensive dish on the menu. $16 for a promised platter of succulent fresh assorted seafood. A half hour later, out came a large plate with small breaded morsels of seafood covering the plate from end to end. Two black clams made up the only fresh seafood on the plate. The clams almost made me gag. The breaded deep fried morsels were in the shape of shrimp and calamari but when I bit into them the seafood had literally been fried right out of the breading, if in fact, it was ever there at all. This platter appeared to me to be one of those plastic bags of frozen breaded seafood like you buy at the local grocery store, dumped into the fryer. Now dont get me wrong here, I ordered this plate on the recommendation of the waitress. Upon asking her what was the best thing on the menu that day, she opened the menu and pointed to this platter. (Actually I can still see her finger pointing at the price.) I am still wondering why I saw so many happy faces at this restaurant. Could it be that the beer is cheap? No. Although, I did see alot more open beer bottles on the tables, than the number of people there. Meal type: Dinner
