Afternoon Tea at the Brown Palace is undoubtedly a Denver tradition and a beautiful experience that was unfortunately ruined by the lack of hospitality. When you’re spending over $100 per person on tea and snacks, the overall experience should feel seamless from start to finish. Not only do they limit you to 2 hours, but the experience also ended on a disappointing note. Our bill included an extra dessert charge that we had to fight to correct, and while the automatic 20% gratuity for a larger group didn’t bother us (8 of us), the restaurant’s payment policy did. We were informed at the end that the bill could only be split across three credit cards maximum. As a result, one person in our party had to put nearly $1,000 on her credit card while the rest of us had to Venmo her. In 2026, that feels incredibly out of touch for a venue that regularly hosts groups and girls outings. When guests are spending this much money for tea and finger sandwiches, they shouldn’t leave feeling inconvenienced by something as basic as paying their own bill. The Brown Palace is selling an experience, and part of that experience is making guests feel cared for and accommodated. Allowing individual payments—or at least more flexibility with check splitting—seems like a reasonable expectation at this price point. The tea itself was enjoyable, but the way the bill was handled left a sour taste at the end of an otherwise lovely afternoon and we likely won't be back. It's the little things. The hostess with the gray hair was incredibly rude. It’s funny how someone’s attitude and demeanor Can sit so deep. I’ve never felt so unwelcome in my life and rolling your eyes at someone for asking for a receipt is wild. I cannot believe a place so classy has such a rude front stand. I’ve spent thousands of dollars here and will never do so again. period. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

My first time to Brown Palace Coffee & Tea Co. And it was wonderful. The staff, The waiters, and John the Piano man were awesome! Everyone should visit this lovely place!
