Another gorgeous Sunday lunch, I had lamb which was cooked beautifully and the Boss had homemade cheese pie - veg option. Took homemade desserts back with us for later, as we were stuffed. Fast, smilley service, great selection of ales and even the pot washer came out with some meat for the dog - perfect!

1 out of 5, and that’s generous! If you’re looking for a peaceful pub experience, keep driving, preferably fast. The Elm Tree Inn seems to have reinvented itself as a magnet for huge packs of bikers, and not the friendly Sunday‑ride sort. The car park looked like the starting grid of a rally, and the noise alone could rattle fillings. Inside, things didn’t improve. The staff greeted us with all the warmth of a tax audit. Sullen, uninterested, and visibly irritated by the presence of customers, which is an odd business model for a pub, but they appear committed to it. Every request felt like an inconvenience, every interaction a chore. And then came the real kicker: discovering that this place has a Food Hygiene Rating of 1. One. As in: the lowest score you can get without being forcibly shut down. Suddenly the sticky tables and questionable smells made a lot more sense. Once you know that, you start noticing things you wish you hadn’t. Between the biker swarm, the joyless staff, and the hygiene rating that should come with a biohazard symbol, this place is less “local gem” and more “public health warning.” Avoid. Seriously. There are better options in every direction, including your own kitchen at 2am.
