The whole experience was amazing - I couldn't choose one dish I liked more out of all the courses. The taste and textures were incredible. It was great to pair the wines as well. It certainly lived up to my expectations and more! Thank you for a great way for us to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! It takes courage to cook food that is not familiar or if the cuisine is not part of one’s culture. One also needs skill to then elevate that food with native ingredients while staying true to the nostalgia of that the dish to someone who is born into that cuisine, especially so when it’s South Indian cuisine. Then if it’s cooked by someone who was a corporate professional until a few years ago, one tries to grasp at the feat of it all. That, in short, is the experience and awesomeness of EVL. We adventured with the 12-course menu (this time it had travelled to Kerala) with paired wines. That took it to another level as I’ve never had Kerala cuisine matched to Aussie wines before; it was a bold decision that paid off to us in spades. Helly (owner and chef) has a skill that shines in her food and her understanding of the ancient history and culture behind it. There’s plenty of accolades for her out there and I just wanted to add mine to them. I felt I knew the taste and yet it had native ingredients that should have done the opposite. When Helly was busy with other tables, Shrusti our hostess pitched in, explaining each dish and its ingredients clearly. A special mention to her for taking great care of us both, making us feel very welcome and being attentive. The wines were great and went extremely well with the dishes. The cocktails weere equally tasty and highly recommend the ‘Kaapi’. Special mention to our charming bartender Vish to keeping us engaged until we were ready for the dinner. Cons: having missed out on Helly’s other culinary experiences from before Thank you Helly and team for a great experience, warm hospitality and delicious food. The best food and the best ambience. I never experienced the India food in such good way . But the real best is the owner and host - Helly . What a gem of a person and what a hospitality. I would recommend the food and enter via laundry to everyone . Keep doing the good work guys. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
