Looks like they have shut down. Just stopped by and there is a large dumpster out front, sign is down, and windows are covered. They were operational just two days ago. Seems a bit like a covert operation was enabled to dismantle the place quickly. I've eaten there a few times. The burritos were blah, but ok in a pinch. The concept of "being a rebel and ordering everything how you like it" didn't work for me. I like a place that does the work and understands flavor profiles and knows how to best serve their food. You could basically create a really horrible burrito here. They also promoted something called the "monster" burrito. It's taking the concept of a questionable interpretation of Mexican food and applying even worse american "everything is better" values. Not so sad to see them go, but it's a bit weird that it all happened basically overnight.
Try cayenne tortilla - it is a bit towards spicy (not burning hot at all okay) and adds nice flavor to vegetarian filling Tip: Smartest way : place ur order online and pick it up bcoz generally they have a big queue If u r a regular, get their loyalty card..
I've been to Freebirds twice. Yesterday I had a veggie burrito bowl with Spanish rice, black beans, veggies, salsa, and guacamole. The bowls are very shallow and even though I asked for extra rice and beans, the portion was not big enough. I was only about 60% full after finishing it. They should get deeper bowls and/or really pile on the food so it's a mountain instead of a small hill or flatland. It tasted okay, but was a bit bland. It needed more salt and pepper. Of course I have to compare Freebirds to Chipotle. The portions are bigger at Chipotle and I think Chipotle's burritos and bowls taste better too. Overall grade: C+
