The most delicious Fish & Chips we have had for many years! Perfectly crunchy batter, not greasy, lightly salted, the salad was fantastic. We ordered chips, battered flake, calamari rings and dim Sims. The tartare sauce was also a winner! Homemade I would guess. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 2

Fish By Moonlite is a small, unassuming shed – the kind of place you might drive past if you weren't looking. But the queue tells a different story. Locals know. Travellers who stop quickly become regulars. Everything is cooked to order. There's no sitting on the pass, no reheating. You order, you wait, and you're rewarded with seafood that tastes like it was pulled from the water moments ago. The fish of the day ($16) – on this visit, a battered mirror dory – arrives huge, golden, and shatteringly light. The batter is airy, almost tempura-like, and gives way to a fillet that's remarkably fresh and tender. Add $2 for chips or salad, though the fish alone is generous enough to satisfy. It's the kind of fish and chips that reminds you why this dish became a national treasure. The Pacific oysters ($3 each) are opened at your order. They're clean, with a gentle salinity and not too much metallic tang – just a pure, briny hit of the ocean. A squeeze of lemon is all they need. Fresh, simple, and well-priced.
