Flores & Pine is a fantastic restaurant that offers a creative menu featuring seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for any occasion. The attentive staff provides excellent service and great recommendations. Each dish is beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The restaurant looks beautiful, especially compared to the old venue. It is light and bright with a beautiful patio. But it takes more than that to make a great experience, you need quality food, service and a solid wine list, especially from a place in this price bracket. Flores and Pine missed the mark on those aspects. The Brussel sprouts were really good, but that was about it, The duck legs appetizer was a bit too salty and over cooked. The Shrimp was terrible. The shrimp were tiny and cooked until they were almost crunchy. One of our guests had a Caesar salad that consisted of Chopped romaine lettuce and croutons - nothing else, no garlic, no anchovies no dressing. Just a dry salad. The sandwich was greasy with little taste and served with the butt end of the tomatoes. The Tacos had little flavour. The Prosciutto flatbread had a stingy amount of prosciutto, the balsamic vinegar was too acidic for this dish and I am not sure what the cheese was but it did not work. Now for the wine list. Most restaurants in Alberta mark up the wines from 2 1/2 to 3 times the regular price for wine lists. this place marks them up between 4 1/2 to 6 times the regular price. Even the best restaurants in Calgary are not that crazy in the mark ups. One wine sells for $10 in retail and they mark it up to $60! This is greedy. Now if you are wondering if we mentioned this to the restaurant? Well we would have if anyone asked us how everything was. this place is way to expensive for what you get.
Considering there were 8 people in the group and we spent over $800 which the tip was obligatorily included in this is a terrible deal. We had also requested to bring in a birthday cake for one of the party to which they charged us $25 but the kicker was they made us cut and serve the cake! I would never recommend this restaurant, there are so many much better quality and priced places in the area.

We had one amazing experience at Flores & Pines Friday evening. We arrived late for our reservation, the staff was more than willing to make our evening special. We were not to rush, just to enjoy!!! Chef Rupert came to our table to explain some of the menu items, Oscar, our waiter was fabulous as was the sommelier. Both gave wonderful suggestions in which Chef Rupert and his kitchen staff prepared so deliciously. Thank you thank you thank you for the most memorable evening with our friends. You all went over and above. I highly recommend this restaurant … I know we’ll be going back soon!!!!
