Elevated fresh and local in a laid back atmosphere. The offerings at FORC are well executed and generous. We had mocktails, apps, two entrees and shared a dessert for about $100 per which is standard for a nicer restaurant on Hawaii island. Left full and with doggie bags. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $50–60

We really enjoyed this place. The dishes are sizable and very reasonably priced for the high quality. It was nice to support a local, family-run business. The hostess was kind and made room for 4 of us despite the fact that we did not have reservations. The drinks were delicious. We ordered the hummus app to share. This was really good overall. I found the flatbread a little dense and prehaps underproofed, but the hummus was full of flavor and the added touch of macadamia nuts was a nice surprise. The rest of our company loved the dish and had no issues with the bread and like the texture. For main course we had: 1.Salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection, moist and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were delicious and 3/4 of us had this as a side. All three reported that this was the best mash potato they have had in any restaurant. It seemed like it was made with "more real potato and no filler". The salmon itself was oversalted as were the roasted vegetable( more on this next). Overall this dish was rated 6.5 but would have been 9 had it not been so salty. 2. The lamb chops. Cooked to perfection medium. Metal in the mouth. The accompanying roasted veggies were perfect here so we were contemplating why such bug difference. We came to conclusion that the veg was seasoned at the end and the salon dish got the top vs the lamb chops the bottom of the mix. This dish was rated 10/10. 3. Seared Ahi tuna special. Absolute perfection. The tuna was lightly crusted with delicious sesame seed crust. The green beens were amazing. The turmeric rice was also good. What elevated the dish was the red wine butter glaze which was heaven on a plate. This dish was 10/10 4. Children's steak and mash. This was very well received. Again the mash was rated superbly as was the flavor of the steak. The comment made was that it needed a bit of a sauce or glaze. When the steak was peared with the wine sauce from the tuna dish, it was rated a 10. Overall the bill was around 300 for a fantastic evening of excellent food and drink. I would consider this a bargain anywhere. They out this place. You will not be disappointed. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $70–80

I enjoyed my recent first visit to this establishment with two out of town guests. First, I remember the decor from the previous owners, and the updated look now is fresh and clean looking. I like the dishes and flatware - not the usual boring look. Staff was attentive, friendly and pleasant- Mahalo to all. Food took a while to arrive, but this was not surprising, considering that there was a very LARGE party on the patio, and that the food must take a while to prepare and then plate so attractively. I had the poke special which was very tasty, but was more like an Ahi ceviche rather than what I think of as Poke. It was excellent. One of my companions had the lau Lau, which she enjoyed, and I enjoyed all of the accompanying mushrooms in the lau lau pot. The poi dish was beautifully presented. The charred sweet potato was okay, but was eclipsed by the other choices. The beet dish with cheese was really good, but the star of the show has to be the cream puff with chocolate mousse and ice cream. I don't usually take pictures of my food - I mean, who cares what someone else is eating, right? But that cream puff was fabulous to see and to devour - so yeah, I took a photo. Kudos to the staff and Chef Allen - this was a lovely dining experience, and my companions were very happy. I will be back - I want to try those goat tacos.
