Lovely night out, and a delicious selection of food from the tasting menu. Everything was presented beautifully, exquisitely designed and well balanced. However, every dish but one had just too much sweetness for my palate, which was distracting as there were plenty of other flavours wrestling for attention. The only other issue was that, afterwards, my wife said she still felt a bit hungry, which is a very unusual thing for her to complain about. Both of these are minor and personal, and I would still go again. Meal type: Dinner Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My husband took me here for dinner for my birthday. Everything tasted incredible and the servers were exceptional. Cannot recommend enough for a special meal out! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My wife and I had a phenomenal dining experience recently at Forsythia. Both Brad, the General Manager, and Andrianna, our waitress, greeted us upon arrival. They remembered us from prior visits and made us feel welcomed. The Old “E” Fashioned cocktail was excellent and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the White Strawberry Negroni. The menu selections were vast, interesting and difficult to choose since they all looked very appetizing. We decided on the Beef Tartare, Jail Island Salmon Crudo and the Duck Liver Pate as our appetizers and they were all prepared to perfection. I especially enjoyed the salmon crudo. It was a flavor explosion with just the right blend of acid, heat and sweetness. Each one being very subtle but succinct and yet it did not overwhelm the taste of the salmon. Perfect combination of ingredients. The salmon crudo was arguably one of the best dishes I’ve ever experienced. My wife’s favorite of the three appetizers was the duck liver pate, which we both agreed was the best we’ve ever had. It was smooth, creamy and flavorful and paired well with the wine Brad recommended. The pate included a green layer consisting of spinach and black truffle of the same texture and consistency as the pate. It added another flavor profile that enhanced the dish. The beef tartare was exceptional as well and we couldn’t have been more pleased with our appetizer selections. My wife chose yet another appetizer for her entree, which was a savory crepe filled with butternut squash, mushrooms, ricotta and herbs. She absolutely loved it. I normally like an entree with meat, chicken or fish but this crepe; it was fulfilling, satisfying and delicious. Just amazing with the perfect combination of flavors. Brad offered a beaujolais, on the house, to my wife to pair with the crepe dish and it was spot on. Well done Brad. For my entree, I had the “48 hour” braised short rib with deep rich Demi glaze. PERFECTION!!! This dish included diced vegetables that were meticulously shaped, uniform in size that paired well with the protein. For dessert, I had crème brûlée and my wife had a White Russian and Andrianna served a small cake with candle in honor of my wife’s birthday. Once again - perfection! All of our dishes were beautifully plated which added to our dining experience. The atmosphere was quiet and romantic and we could easily hear each other throughout the course of our meal. Before providing our check, Andrianna asked if we needed anything else and I replied the only thing that could make our evening better was to hear her sing Happy Birthday to my wife. We knew Andrianna obtained her degree in Opera and was singing for The Philadelphia Orchestra so I wanted to hear her voice. She laughed, cleared some of our plates and then walked away. Well, you can’t have everything, right? My wife and I were deeply engaged in conversation when we surprisingly heard Andrianna singing Happy Birthday as she approached our table holding a plate with two champagne glasses and a burning candle on it. Her voice was as stunningly beautiful as she is and provided the perfect ending to the most perfect dining experience. We’ve been to Jean George’s, Provenance and many other expensive restaurants in Philadelphia and as much as we enjoyed those experiences, they can’t light a candle to the value and perfection that my wife and I experienced during our recent visit to Forsythia. Kudos to Chef Proprietor Christopher Kearse, General Manager Brad Histand, Waitress and future Opera Star Andrianna, Server Kyler and bar staff. This lovely French restaurant has earned my highest recommendation. Try it. You will not be disappointed.
