Not sure what even that last one means ??? But what Frigg means is a question that everyone asks the twinnies, Maria Elita & Toula Scott!
They are the Founders of FRIGG and they have decided to call the place in 2016 after the one and only Nordic Goddess, Frigg, that is the mother of Thor, that I’m sure you’ve all heard of!
They thought that FRIGG would make a frigg'n awesome name for the cafe and… I can surely confirm that they are WAY more than frigg’n awesome!
From the decoration to the service, and obviously the food place definitely deserve to be the AWARD WINNER COFFEE/CAFE of the Gold Coast! Seriously, the coffee is just SO GOOD! You know that I love to share places that are so passionate about their businesses, but most importantly what I found here is that they not only care about being the best coffee/cafe but they also stick to their humble values of wanting to always provide a deeper connection to their costumers, making them part of the family.
Plus, they have one of the BEST acai bowls that I have had here! OOooooh and there is even a secret menu!
The venue was quite busy when we got there around 11am on a Sunday and it took a while to get our order fully completed, but we finally got there ? I am a very flexible person and I can definitely tell when the delay is caused by the lack of experience or because they are actually amazing and people just don’t ?stop?coming? ? And here it was the latter one and for a good reason ?
Here’s what we tried from the menu:
- Acai Bowl - serious acai bowl game here ??? wow wow wow! Possibly one of my favourite bowls in the Gold Coast and that ticks all boxes! Size, consistency and taste were just fabulous and I had had Nectar Fruits acai before but it wasn’t nearly as delicious as this one ? they actually make a Brazilian berry superfood blend with it and it’s an absolute bliss! It comes served with a massive portion of granola that was just right in terms of sweetness and crunchiness and a variety of fresh fruit that was delicious! Absolutely loved the choice of fruits here, especially the passionfruit touch! It also came topped with coconut & chia seeds which I am a huge liver and the bowl is an absolute must if you visit ? photographer tip: ask to be served in a black large bowl, otherwise they’ll serve in a glass bowl and it won’t be as pretty if you’re looking for a more instagramable picture ?
- Best Frigg’N Burger - my friend had their 100% Australian beef patty on a large brioche bun, and wow! The size was massive and it looked not only impressive but it was according to him delicious ? with hickory smoked bacon, melted cheese a sneaky and popping fried egg, some onion, lettuce, aioli & BBQ sauce it was a massive hit indeed! He loved the whole combo!
- The Big Frigg - it’s their big hearty breakfast that my friend also had and it came with hickory smoked bacon, 2 eggs your way (poached in our case), some fat pork sausage from their local butcher, grilled mushrooms, baked beans, grilled tomato, hash browns & light rye toast. Unfortunately the rosy was quite cold after all the time shooting but everything else was very enjoyable and delicious! The meal is very diverse and packed and is made to fill you, nourish your and make you with a little food baby ??
- Vegan OJ Magic - a blend of mango and oranges, I was actually stocked how refreshing and delicious this was! The consistency and sweetness were just on point and it wasn’t bitter at all as some smoothies might be due to the oranges. Actually you can taste the sweetness of natural and GOOD solid mangos and this is something that everyone will absolutely love! Definitely recommend too!
- Almond Latte - we obviously had to try their famous coffee and WOW! It is undoubtedly one of the best coffees I’ve had around the Gold Coast for sure! The blend is not too dark roasted, strong or bitter and it is SO creamy that I cannot even deal! It came with so much froth that I was soooooo in love with it that even wanted another one (but let’s portion control the caffeine dose ?). I also asked an almond latte because it’s my usual coffee order and wanted to see in an objective perspective the difference! An ABSOLUTE must!
- Almond Caramel Flat White - my friend had an almond caramel flat white and it looked luxurious too and he was massively pleased with it too. We would absolutely come here repeatedly for a good coffee for sure! The only thing I have to add and he wish there was available was oat milk! With so many places already serving oat, coconut and macadamia milk, along with the usual soy and almond, it’s important that this too place gets onto it and finds some options to serve those type of plant based milks too as I’m sure the costumers will be very keen!
Loved the food and although the service was quite busy and packed, they tried to please us as much as possible and I could see there honest and genuine love while they served costumers. This is definitely your little family cafe and one you don’t want to miss visiting ?
