Came here on a whim for dinner when Wonder Bar was closed for an event. Really loved our experience! LGBTQ-friendly (saw lots of other tables of queer customers), and the food was really good. We had the burger (really juicy), smoked salmon salad (really well balanced! Had walnuts and avocado and a good dressing), and fish and chips (oddly, no chips? This was just okay). There’s a one drink minimum for everyone, even if you order food. We ended up getting their house tea and house lemonade since we hadn’t planned on drinking alcohol. Both drinks were tasty. Our friend ordered an alcoholic lychee drink (Taiwan tea?) that they said was good. Staff also spoke English and the menu had English as well. Can pay by card or Apple Pay. I came across and saw this restaurant then me and my friend decided to give it a try. The decoration and the environment are so great. Service is nice. The food and drinks are also good. Nice place to be with your friend to chill and talk. Price per person: NT$400–600 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

During our recent trip to Taipei, we quite literally stumbled upon this charming little café one quiet weekday afternoon, & what a delightful accident it turned out to be. The name Fumu Taipei Cafe & Bar (父母, meaning “parents”) immediately piqued my curiosity & trust me, it only got more interesting from there. Step inside & you’re not just entering a café, you’re time-travelling. Think warm, nostalgic lighting, vintage furniture, quirky old toys, & walls dressed in classic American movie posters. It feels less like a commercial space & more like wandering into someone’s lovingly preserved post-war home except this “home” happens to be run by a very cool, very modern crew of young chefs & staff. Opened in 2019, the café cleverly centres everything around its open kitchen & bar, the true “stage” of the house, offering an impressive lineup that stretches from Western-style breakfasts to lunches, & eventually transforms into a cocktail bar for those who prefer their evenings shaken (or stirred). Our visit was purely a coffee stop (self-control was required, & yes, it was painful). The café was quiet, the vibe relaxed, & the service effortlessly friendly, no fuss, no pretence, just good old-fashioned hospitality. Nestled in the residential streets of Zhongshan District, this isn’t your typical tourist hotspot, which makes the discovery feel even more special, like you’ve been let in on a local secret. While we didn’t get the chance to sample their food (a regret I intend to correct), it’s worth noting that in a city bursting with incredible Taiwanese eats, sometimes you just crave a Western detour, & this place seems more than ready to deliver. All in all, a hidden gem with plenty of charm & even more potential. Next time we’re back in Taipei, we’ll be returning, this time hungrier, thirstier, & fully prepared to put that cocktail menu to proper use. Price per person: NT$1–200 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
