A real gem in Argyle and one of the few places serving authentic Indonesian cuisine in Chicago. The nasi rames rice plates are incredibly comforting with plenty of options for proteins, sides, and sambal. We especially loved the rendang and bebek Madura, while the cassava, jackfruit, anchovies, and shrimp with petai were all standout sides with unique flavors and textures. The sambal tied everything together with a satisfying kick. A wonderful no-frills spot for flavorful Indonesian food, and I’d highly recommend for anyone looking for a delicious, well-priced meal packed with bold flavors. Best Indonesian in the USA. Total hole in the wall, but the food is phenomenal. I have never had better beef rendang. The paste of spices was so thick, the color beet red, the texture perfect The Soto Ayam was great. Sambals so homemade. Super friendly and positive service. Will be putting into heavy rotation! (But it has been discovered and must time arrival right.) Value is on point. I hope they never change anything. Price per person: $20–30

We really enjoyed our lunch at Garuda, delicious food, great service and cozy restaurant! We will definitely go back to try their Nasi combo plate. It looks so good!
