Food was great - not out of this world, but definitely above average! Prices were fantastic for the area. Crab cakes were exceptional, as was the elk tenderloin. Demi glaze was just so-so and buffalo ribeye was a bit dry, but that is expected with buffalo when compared to beef. The vegetables were well prepared and desserts were fantastic. The service was friendly and attentive. Those that complain they were asked to leave need to book a later reservation or understand that it is rude to hold a table while others have reservations for and are waiting on. 90 minutes is pretty typical for in demand restaurants. We had a later reservation, kids, and took more time to eat and chat and have dessert with no problems from the staff, but it was a weeknight and there were other tables available for other patrons. There was no hint of rushing us at all. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant for a great meal with family or friends. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

We ate at The Gashouse Restaurant during our family vacation last week. I have never left a negative review for a restaurant but felt it necessary so that others can avoid this mistake. There are too many great spots in Vail to waste time and money at The Gashouse. We ordered appetizers, drinks, entrees, extra sides, and desserts. Our bill was $450 for our family of 5. We are accustomed to Vail pricing, but the menu items were priced too high for the quality of food we received. For being considered a steak house, the steak we were served was overcooked, dry, and tough. None of the meat was served at the right temperature. We also ordered elk and could barely chew it enough. I could see past all of that and decide not to return next time, but the reason I'm writing this review is because of the hostess and the way she treated us. Once we paid our bill, she came over and said that she had a party of 10 people waiting and we needed to leave immediately. She said we were there "long enough" (It had been just over an hour and we were being served the entire time.) We were dumbfounded. We looked around and there were plenty of open tables. There was no reason she needed our small table, where we had 1 person on an end because it was a table meant for 4 people. We obliged and left. As we were walking out, we noticed more empty tables in other rooms. And to top it off... there was NOT ONE PERSON WAITING IN THE RECEPTION AREA to be seated! A week later, I'm still in shock at the boldness and rudeness of that hostess. I truly can not believe this restaurant is successful in a place that has so many more amazing options for dining! After we left, I pulled up the Yelp reviews and lots of other people have had similar experiences at The Gashouse. Do yourself a favor and pick one of the tens and tens of AMAZING restaurants in the Vail area! Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
