Affordable Sizzling Plates at a Chinatown food court! I’m a firm believer that heat makes food taste better, both in temperature and in spice. I like my food hot hot. Steam coming off my spoon hot. Burn my tongue a little hot. And chilli hot. Wouldn't it make sense then that a smokin' hot sizzling plate with a Szechuan beef and vegetable stir fry with loads of chilli would be my idea of a damn good lunch? I love the aroma of sizzling plates when they come out at Chinese restaurants. I find it brilliant that you can get sizzling plates from this food court stall for a casual quick lunch, and better yet, I only spent $15 for the set with a big bowl of rice and soup too! There's plenty of choices as you can see from the picture menu on the wall, different sauces, different meats, but the aunty out the front (one of two people working here) recommended the Szechuan sizzling plate as the most ordered. "Done, I'll take the Szechuan with beef please!" Mate as soon as your sizzling plate comes out with the scent of spice in the air, your mouth will start watering immediately. Taste-wise, the beef is tender, velvetted superbly. I was expecting the numbing spice I'd come to expect from Sichuan hot pot soups, but it was just regular chilli. Still very spicy though, enough to have sweat on your nose and above your lips. No complaints, I loved it!
