I want to start by saying I know firsthand how difficult it is to run a Black-owned business. You are often judged more harshly, sometimes unfairly, and I don’t take that lightly. That’s why I want to be clear: my review is coming from a fair place. I hope the owners receive this as constructive criticism because I genuinely want Grand Kitchen to win, and I do plan to order again in the future. I’ve stuck around through a lot. I stuck around last year when they were having phone issues and it was almost impossible to get someone to answer. I stuck around when I would order wings and they sometimes came with little to no sauce. A few times, I even walked back around the corner just to have them fixed, but honestly, customers should not have to do that repeatedly. I even stuck around after finding plastic wrap in my food, which I still have a video of. Today, my issue was with the crabby fries. They were hard and stuck together like they were overcooked. With all that being said, I still believe there is hope for Grand Kitchen. The menu selection is great, and when the food is consistent, the recipes and cooking are top notch. Also, all the talk about the store smelling bad is unfair in my opinion. It does not stink in there, so let’s cut that out. However, when the price point is around $20–$30, consistency is not optional. It is a requirement. The food needs to come out the same way every time, especially when people are paying that much and choosing to keep supporting the business. I really hope they lock in and turn things around because, to be honest, there are not a lot of great food options on 60th Street. When Grand Kitchen first came out, they felt like the best thing since sliced bread. The potential is still there. I truly hope everything is okay behind the scenes. Every mountain can be climbed, and it is never too late to get out of a rut. I will go back to Grand Kitchen again, just not for a while. People may say I’m dumb for still going back, but listen I still ate the burnt ass Fries. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
