Staring at the sandwich section with the sort of gaze that was about 3 miles behind the back of the cabinet I exhaled sharply with a vacant expression as the decision I was about to make required too much thought for the amount of energy left in my brain. Tony and Martin had seen it all before (we never did exchange names but I knew them and they knew me). It's the kind of intuition you get from working on the job, it was all I needed, a vague suggestion that tipped the balance in favour of the hot chicken baguette. Tony (the taller or the two) noticed an efficiency gain to be had and got that baguette in the oven whilst I mulled the 'sides' decision. This was much quicker and I began to wake up from the monotony of the M6 post rush hour. End of shift was coming and Martin lined up a complimentary mango and passion fruit doughnut. Not something I would have gone for but it provided a welcome zingy burst around Stafford. Tony handed me my hot baguette warning me of the molten temperatures within the bag. I gave it 5 minutes and ate my crisps. It was only when I was on my way, 10 minutes on the motorway I realised. My cheese and onion slice. The warm pastry still left cooling on the counter... Martin, Tony, we didn't exchange names but you made the rest of my journey much lighter even though the sweet experimental doughnut didn't quite hit the spot like a savoury pastry would have done. If you’ve some time to waste on your journey and want to lose weight,may I suggest calling in at Greggs lymm services . You can pass 20 minutes stood in a queue ,then walk away without any food,as the queue continues to grow. Passing the time,and zero calories Ps,perfectly good McDonald’s next door where u can place and receive your order,then pass the greggs queue smugly on your return past Service: 1
