There are ramen places where the broth is just there, and then there are ramen places where you find yourself shamelessly lifting the bowl for the last few sips. Shoryu firmly belongs in the second category. The broth is rich without being heavy, the noodles have that perfect fresh bite, and everything tastes like it’s been made properly rather than rushed—even though it arrives astonishingly fast. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why a simple bowl of ramen can be one of life’s greatest comforts. I’d also highly recommend recommend the wasabi sea salad and the ice teas The space is just as charming as the food too: rows of glowing lanterns, big windows for a spot of people-watching, and a cosy buzz that makes you want to linger long after you’ve finished. Whether you’re escaping a rainy London afternoon or grabbing a quick dinner before heading out again, it somehow manages to be both efficient and wonderfully inviting. Nice resturant. Visited on a Sunday evening and was seated straight away. No pressure browsing the menu for ages and food came hot and tasty. Very attentive staff. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I had high hopes for Shoryu Ramen in Shoreditch, but unfortunately, my visit was a major letdown. I ordered the pork gyoza and the signature ramen, and both were deeply disappointing. The pork gyoza was completely tasteless—lacking any depth or seasoning that you'd expect from such a classic dish. Moving on to the signature ramen, I was shocked by how bland it was. The broth, which is supposed to be the heart and soul of a good bowl of ramen, tasted like nothing more than hot water. It lacked the rich, savory flavor I associate with tonkotsu broth. I specifically ordered my noodles with barikata firmness (super hard), but they arrived soft and overcooked, which made the texture quite unpleasant. The onsen egg, which should be creamy and rich, was sadly overcooked as well. To be honest, I've had better ramen from instant packets at home. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for a satisfying bowl of ramen, I suggest avoiding Shoryu Ramen Shoreditch at all costs.
