I have been coming here since I was a child, and they are still consistent. They are definitely using different hot dogs but their burgers are still the same size and are very filling. The biggest issue is the prices, this is a cash only seasonal business that is open for only 6 months of the year, meaning they have to generate an entire Year's worth of revenue in 6 months. Yes, they are incredibly busy, but the prices are a lot. 2 hamburgers, 4 hotdogs a small milkshake and a small lemonade was $49. That cost averages to $7 per item. I will let you be the judge of the pricing. However, this is a historic part of Connecticut food culture, it's important to have places like this. It's what keeps New England. A small town feel and it's what keeps people searching for new and exciting food opportunities like these all across the country. Regardless of the pricing, I still never leave unsatisfied. Kid-friendliness: There is a grassy null behind the building where children and families are found climbing trees and hanging out near the picnic tables. I get what they’re going for here. The layout is a bit different since it’s a little more compact, but that’s makes the patty thicker, which is a good thing. The meat itself wasn’t super flavorful or seasoned, but it did seem extremely fresh and juicy and was cooked perfectly so that was all good. The cheese had a very nice noticeable flavor and the other toppings were very solid and worked nicely overall. Now for the bad- The bun. The bun is the absolute worst bun I’ve ever had on a burger. I don’t mind that it is small, the big problem is it was incredibly hard/chewy on the top and seemed stale. I could not enjoy the rest of the burger because the bun was just this hard rubbery shell that was difficult to get through to be able to eat everything else. Not sure if the one I got was just bad and other people have better luck, but it made what could have been a very solid experience into something sub-par. I love checking out old school hot dog and burger places harry's place was good only complaints i wish the burgers were cooked to order temp wise med med rare well done ect and that they seasoned the burger even if just salt n pepper and toasted the bun i would call them a slidder more so then a burger the dogs were yummy and wish they used anything but crinkle fries and made them nice and extra crispy to hold up to the cheese sauce otherwise very good i will be back for sure (update just went back for the opening of 2024 and every thing in my old post i wish they had they did and shows just how much they care at register i was asked if i wanted rolls toasted when you go up after your name is called they ask if you want salt n pepper on your burger before they take it off the grill and top it fries were super crispy perfect my new cheese dog and burger spot. Our burgers are cooked to order , ask at the register - we always ask before we season and will toast rolls on request . Our burgers are 1/4 pound , a slider is a 2 ounce burger . Also fries can be cooked on her if you order that way . Hope to see you again
