We visited Hellriegel's Inn on Easter Sunday with the intention of enjoying their $38.00+ per person buffet (with no salad). Sadly that never came to pass. Our party of 6 were all totally gobsmacked by the lack of food selection and quality on the buffet, the inability of the kitchen to prepare and deliver the limited Easter menu main course items (5 total) and the absence of any sort of an explanation or apology from anyone other than our server when the back of house totally "broke down". Our server was the only positive note in what in every other way was an abysmal failure. After 2 hours of waiting for our prime rib dinners we were told by that wonderful waitress that the "kitchen" said to tell us that the meat was too cold to serve and we would have to make another selection. At that point we had all reached the end of our proverbial ropes! We tipped our server and left (never to return again)! Hellriegel's was once a shining culinary star in Lake County but it appears to have become nothing but a "black-hole". We had my daughter’s bridal shower there last November. Everything was perfect. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, and Kristina the banquet manager was so incredibly accommodating. She let us customize our own menu, decorate how we wanted, and was even able to make a few last minute changes for us. I would highly recommend Hellriegels for a place to host an event.
