Booked this place because of the fireplace photo and it didnt disappoint. Room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant was good. Staff very friendly. Suited me as a solo traveller with the basic of expectations.

How the High Street Motor Inn has a 4.4 star rating is completely beyond me - my stay here over the weekend was terrible. The room had a persistent cold draft coming through the windows and door frame, making it impossible to stay warm. The bed linens were insufficient, and there was no electric blanket to compensate for the chill. Overall, it was an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience. I do not recommend this place and made sure my entire office knew to avoid this place when visiting Stanthorpe. Edited reply: Considering this is the coldest place in Queensland, adequate heating is crucial during the winter. Unfortunately, a thin flat sheet and two light blankets are insufficient for staying warm, especially since the split system struggles to counteract the persistent cold drafts coming through the doors and windows. Reviews from over three years ago mention the same issue with cold drafts, indicating that no action has been taken to address the sealing problems. I doubt bringing this to your attention would have made any difference.

Hi Makayla Sorry to hear you found our rooms to be cold, Stanthorpe is the coldest town in Queensland & attracts travellers from all over wanting to experience this. Despite the outside temperatures, the usual feedback from our guests is that they find the double brick building, blanket & quilt on the bed, 2nd blanket in the cupboards plus reverse cycle air conditioning & additional blow heater to keep them more than comfortable & warm.Electric blankets were removed due to a product default whereby a mattress was scorched. We felt that this was a safer option for our guests than a fire in their bed.We are also sorry to hear that you made sure your whole office was aware of your experience. Perhaps if you had made us aware of your discomfort during your stay we could have done something to assist.Nevertheless we thank you for taking the time to submit your review and allowing us the opportunity to confirm the heating options available to our guests.Owners / Managers
