Food was good, service was good and the manager was super nice. Highly reccomend the combo plate! Portions are great for the price, shared with my partner and had leftovers after, the hot tea is also very good and worth the buck fifty! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $1–10

Looking for bold flavors and hearty portions? This spot has its highs and lows. I've had better experiences here before, but this visit left me with mixed feelings. We started with the Hong Kong Style Diner Chow Mein (or Mì Xào Giòn in Vietnamese). It’s a popular dish here, but the menu doesn’t make it clear that you need to order #65 then request the "Hong Kong Style" noodles as an add-on for $2. I ordered it correctly, but it wasn’t what I expected. The dish is supposed to have crispy noodles in a "bird’s nest" shape, topped with seafood, vegetables, and gravy. Instead, it arrived soggy, drenched in way too much sauce, and felt more like a stir fry than a crispy noodle dish. The veggies were overpowering, and the thinly sliced pork, shrimp, and chicken lacked flavor. The portion was huge, so if you’re looking for leftovers, this is your dish, but it didn’t have the balance I was hoping for. The sauce itself was good savory and not too salty but the texture was a letdown. Next, we had the vegetarian chow fun, and this was a much better option. The flavors were solid, and the dish had great chewy texture with vibrant colors. The only downside was that some of the edamame was overcooked and tough, but it was still a satisfying dish overall. For drinks, we tried the Pandan Coconut boba, and that didn’t quite hit the mark either. The boba pearls were too firm, and the drink was mostly ice with little flavor. The color was a pale green, far from the vibrant hue shown on the menu. It felt more like watered down ice than a refreshing treat. The service wasn’t great either. When you walk in, there's no greeting you just pick your table, and the water is brought afterward. It felt chaotic and a bit disorganized. The staff is diverse, but none of them speak Vietnamese or Chinese, so if you need help, the owner or manager is usually at the cashier to assist. The atmosphere is casual and busy, more fast casual than a place to linger. If you're just looking for a quick meal, it works. The menu also offers sushi, mochi donuts, and boba, so there’s something for everyone. This place has its ups and downs. The vegetarian chow fun impressed with its vibrant flavor and texture, while the Hong Kong style chow mein missed the mark on the crispy element. Despite a few misses, it’s a casual spot with good potential and a variety of options worth exploring. Would I return? The potential is there, and with a variety of choices on the menu, it’s worth considering. While this visit didn’t fully hit the mark, it’s still a spot that could deliver with the right choices. I love Japanese boba blended drinks, so I was excited to find this place. It also happens to be one of the few restaurants actually open after midnight. What drove me to write this long winded review (you will find yourself asking repeatedly - when will it end?), for no compensation? Well, because this is the best asian restaurant in Reno, in my opinion. Not just because they have great Boba. Not just because they're open late. They are the best asian restaurant in Reno because their food is so tasty and fresh! This is definitely not your typical - confusing, unidentifiable and scary, desperate for customers blend of questionable seemingly asian and definitely not chicken kind of restaurant. I have eaten happily and with gusto in this restaurant, I have picked up to go, and I've had it delivered. Surprisingly, my experience with having the food delivered, was my favorite way to indulge my inner hog, despite the additional cost. I don't know if it was because everything was so neatly packaged, down to the scalp crawling wasabi, or the surprising, exciting array of asian condiments like hosin and chili paste that came with the food? Fancy condiments aside, one could argue (not me I swear it's not me) that when you order any food delivered to your home, there is something almost sublime about gorging shamelessly, or shoveling sushi by the fistful into your gaping maw - in private...someone else may argue that eating sushi as messy as you can't help, is best done in the privacy of your own home, in your pjs. The nitty gritty:. All in all - the Vietnamese fresh Spring Rolls with peanut sauce and the combo plate with vermicelli, flame broiled pork and grilled shrimp, the Japanese Caterpillar roll and the Spider roll, and the Chinese pork bun dim sum and Ma Po Tofu are all my favorites and I highly recommend them! Litterally, on every single dish - the presentation, preparation, temperature and the distinct, country specific flavors were on point, I mean flawless! When I think about those dishes I recommended, my mouth waters and I need to go there. I will feel unhappy with anything else. The fare at Sushi Boba Pho Cafe Hong Kong Diner is crave-worthy from the perfectly executed, very elaborate menu with sub menus from different asian countries (done so well you'd swear you were there!). I don't know how many cooks they have on hand, but it must be at least one per country? Circling back to the blended drinks (Boba with no boba for me) are perfect - sweet and creamy, cold, fruity and refreshing. I just wish they had a bigger size. To finally "sum it up", I am especially enamored with the fact and that I can actually go get whatever fantastic dish I'm craving (almost every single time), day or early am. Although it's a little on the pricey side, Sushi Boba Pho Cafe Hong Kong Diner is my favorite restaurant when an asian food craving hits me, and it's my go to for a late night bite. Everyone must try it. Service: Delivery Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+
