Today I had a terrible experience during my visit to this IHOP. We had never experienced anything like this before. When we arrived, no one came over to help us or offer us a table. After a few minutes, a young man approached us. He seemed very confused—I’m not sure if he was the host—but he tried to help us, although he appeared somewhat disoriented. Then the manager, or at least someone who seemed to be the manager, told him to seat us. However, when we got to the table, they were still mopping the area, and it turned out there wasn’t enough room for our party. He then tried to seat us at a larger table, but a waitress, clearly upset, said, “NO, DON’T SEAT THEM THERE BECAUSE I ALREADY CLEANED THOSE TABLES.” I was there with my mother, my husband, and my children, and it was very clear that she did not want us sitting in her section. From the moment we arrived, she was mopping, ignoring us, and then started talking on the phone. The young man tried to find us a table on the other side of the restaurant, but by then my mother had decided that we should leave, and honestly, I think it was the best decision. It’s disappointing that, despite the restaurant being nearly empty, their reaction was to make us feel unwelcome rather than receive us as customers.
