We stopped by Innato for brunch recently and were curious to experience the concept. The building actually houses multiple dining experiences, including Lonchería Japonesa and the rooftop concept Montes, which makes the space feel more like a small culinary complex than a single restaurant. We kept things fairly light with a few starters, drinks, and several tacos to share. I ordered a creamy tomato soup which was fine but didn’t end up being a standout compared with some of the other dishes we tried. My partner ordered the ceviche and enjoyed it, and it made for a refreshing start to the meal. For tacos, I was especially interested in trying the Taco Calafiero, though it ended up being a little less memorable than I expected. It was decent, but it didn’t compare particularly well to the excellent steak taco at Casa de Leo, which remains one of our favorites in the city. The Taco de Brocheta de Camarón was the standout for us. It was very flavorful and nicely presented. The fish taco was also quite good and rounded out the tasting nicely. The drinks unfortunately didn’t leave much of an impression either, which was a bit surprising given the overall concept and presentation of the space. Service throughout brunch was friendly but a little more relaxed than what we’re used to experiencing at some of Tijuana’s standout restaurants. One highlight worth mentioning though was the valet team out front, who were excellent and made a great first impression when we arrived. Overall, Innato is an interesting and stylish space with a unique multi-restaurant concept under one roof. While not every dish stood out, it was still a pleasant brunch experience and an intriguing addition to Tijuana’s dining scene. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re curious about the concept and want to explore something a little different. We spend a fair amount of time dining around Tijuana, and it’s always fun to see spaces like this adding to the city’s constantly evolving food scene.
