Update 3/7/24- Well this used to be one of my fave places to eat at in Red Bluff but since the ownership has changed, so has the food quality, service and amounts. Just the other day I called to get a to go order and the woman who answers speaks such poor English that I do not know why she even answers the phone! She can not understand me and I also can not understand her. I asked for Teriyaki Chicken with Tempura, my usual. I was told they don't make Teriyaki Chicken any more, just Sushi. I hope this was wrong. ------------------------------- I really like this place. My go to item on the menu is Chicken Teriyaki and Tempura Veggies. The teriyaki sauce is perfectly flavored and has a nice consistency. The rice is always perfect and I am not a salad eater but I do enjoy the salad that comes with the meal here. Service is very friendly at the location. However sometimes when I call in they just answer with "Hello" and I think that maybe I called the wrong number somehow. I would leave 5* for the food but the portions have gotten smaller. I realize everything has gone up in cost but I used to be able to stop eating it and have enough left over for lunch the next day. Even if you reduce the main course, perhaps add a little extra rice. This last time I ate the entire dinner and usually can not finish the rice portion. Sorry but I can not give any option of the sushi, not a fan of it. But i have had friends tell me that it was really good. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Hi! I am sorry about the inconvenience. Our main chef health hasn't been kind to him and he is still recovering. That is why we don't serve main dishes as of now. We will be serving the regular menu when he fully recovered:) Thanks for understanding!

Very very disappointed with Ikkyu Japanese Restaurant!I have been coming to this restaurant for the last 3 years. Friend of the restaurant's owner, Momo. It used to have a five-star rating from me.Now I have downgraded to one star. Truthfully, there should be no star.Today, May 18th 2022,Went into the restaurant to order a takeout. I've ordered two unagi's nigiri, one crips dragon roll, $35.. As I was waiting for my order. Momo serve me very nicely flavored hot tea. About 15 minutes later my order comes. I paid, thanked Momo and left. I only live about 5 minutes from the restaurant. Returned into my house, sat down, opened my takeout order. To my disappointing surprise. Everything I've ordered, cold. Not warm not hot. Cold, like it been sitting around for 2 hours cold. I've immediately called Ikkyu, and talk to Momo. I was telling her how cold the sushi were. Momo tells me, you just left you the restaurant, how's is the the order? I've responded, yeah I did. But the meal is cold. She apologized. Tells me that she no longer owns the restaurant and is out of her hand. Ive asked Momo to have my money back. She tells me, it's out of her hand, because she no longer owns the restaurant. But she will tell the manager. Nothing was done. I told Momo that I would very disappointed that I'll never come back. Momo said I hope to see you again. I told her, not at that restaurant. You won't.What a huge disappointment!!Save your money.Not worth it.
