Like its name suggests, Kapa Hale treats its plates like canvases to be decorated. We were treated to inventive and flavorful takes on grilled octopus, pipikaula, fried chicken, and miso salmon (which was so delicate it reminded me of another island favorite—butterfish) each plate with a twist to make the familiar flavors feel fresh and exotic like pickling their mustard seeds and combining with peppercorns for a vibrant garnish that was hard to pin down. My only note was that the dishes tended on the sweet side but that made the laaksa risotto an absolute standout. Perfectly seasoned. Spicy, savory, rich. Having lived in Malaysia for three years and tried my share of laaksa, I can attest that this version is not just authentic but elevated. Pairing it with sweet local shrimp and rice made it ideal for the Hawaiian palate. Kapa Hale is worth the trip. I've been to Kapa Hale a few times, and each visit has been a wonderful experience! Recently, I brought my auntie and uncle who were visiting, and they still rave about their dining experience. From the impeccable service to the delightful ambiance and the delicious food, Kapa Hale is truly a hidden gem . It's a must-visit for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience! Lunch is a pleasant treat to my tongue palette here at Kapa Hale Restaurant. I ordered the KFC version of Fried Chicken and asked if the batter was difficult to bite. I’ve had bad experiences at other restaurants but I was so happen when I took my first bite. So delicious and tender. Better than the fast food version and ultimately tasted like a gourmet chef special. Perfect ginger sauce lightly coated the very tender chicken with a side of rice over lettuce. Yummy! Staff is so nice and inviting. Highly recommended. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
