Restaurant Highlights A kappo restaurant with a riverside dining area overlooking the Kamo River. The entrance exudes charm, allowing you to experience Kyoto’s unique atmosphere. Since it’s located north of Sanjo Ohashi Bridge, the riverbank is less crowded, making for a peaceful setting where you can fully enjoy the riverside dining experience. It’s especially wonderful at dusk. Food Review Chilled Chawanmushi A chilled chawanmushi made with conger eel. The refined flavor of the conger eel, the rich umami of sea urchin, and the subtle accent of ume (pickled plum) blend perfectly to create a delicious dish. Pork Shabu-shabu Pork is dipped into a sweet broth made with white miso. Eating it by the riverbank after sunset, with a fire burning nearby, creates a magical atmosphere.

You can enjoy delicious food with a great view of the Kamogawa River. We had lunch here and tried obanzai, a traditional Kyoto-style meal made up of a variety of small dishes. Vegetarians may also be able to eat here, although some dishes contain fish. The staff were not very professional. They did not smile much and the service felt quite mechanical. Please note that lunch is cash only, so be prepared. The food itself was great. It was approximately USD 22 per person, so the price was reasonable too. A reservation is a must, so I do not recommend walking in without one. It may be a little difficult for foreign tourists, as there is not much English guidance. However, I would still recommend challenging yourself and enjoying the traditional experience! Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5

We, party of 5, had a fabulous lunch on 1/8/26. It is located by Kamo River and they will have Yuka (lanai dining space on the canal) during summer. You will need to go through an alley to the restaurant from Kiyamachi street, a little south from Nijo-street / Ritz Carlton. The building is a typical old Kyoto style house and you would enjoy the atmosphere. We ordered the White Miso broth Pork Hot Pot lunch and it was just fantastic. The quality of food was great with beautiful presentation and the price was so reasonable. All of us were very happy with everything and would love to go back. My next visit to Kyoto will be in June 2026, I would love to eat this beautiful dish at Yuka if the weather permits. Reservation recommended. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ¥2,000–3,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
