Called in on Monday night about 5pm for tea. Had the dining room to myself. They do a community tea at 6pm apparently. Wait staff were attentive and took my order promptly. The Fish, Chips and salad was delicious and arrived in a timely manner. The fish was cooked perfectly. Drinks were reasonably priced too. Price per person: $20–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We had stopped on our way to a funeral in NSW for a drink and I was taken by the good old pub dining room. So we looked forward to stopping in for lunch on our way back a few days later. To our disappointment it was just on 2pm when we arrived and thought we had missed out on lunch - however our fears were quickly of 6 had an enjoyable lunch stop with such friendly service. "Yes sit out in the sun for a drink I''ll bring it out to you' and then we were given a reminder to come inside when our lunch was ready. Price per person: $20–40 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The Rochester hotel is the last place to find a lunch. I ordered a hamburger with the lot which turned into a steak sandwich. Not the biggest problem in the world. The undercooked egg was, while I like the Rocky movies, I do not wish to imitate Sylvester Stallone drinking raw eggs. The steak was not good had a fair bit of gristle and fat, the bread wasn’t even toasted. I got 3-4 chips as a side. For 23 bucks, is a slight rip, my partner had the chow mein which is more accurately described as beef mince mixed with whiskers cat food. If I could suggest a motto for the Rochester hotel food: it all goes in the same hole. Rochester has been battered with floods I would personally say this, support the town by buying pies and cakes from the bakery. Fuel from the Ampol, a yeti thermos from the hardware store or a pizza from Rochy pizza. If you do go to a pub go to the Shamrock pub because the atmosphere is better and the food isn’t questionable.
