I was warned beforehand by a friend this restaurants food wasn't great and definitely wasn't authentic Mexican food, but I decided to experience it for myself. I definitely regret not paying attention to them. I wish the foods average taste was the only issue, but unfortunately there are plenty more. I am uncertain if it was simply our server, or if all work the same, but sadly for starters our customer experience was horrible. Our server, Chantal (which I believe was her name, as stated on the receipt because none of the servers wear name tags) bothered to come by simply to drop off our food order and deliver the check at the end. When she dropped off the food we asked for refills and salsa and currently I'm still waiting on those. When she came to drop off the bill we still wanted dessert and despite our table being full of dirty dishes and cups (it was a party of 6) she simply left with an empty tray in her hand to place the dessert order in. Luckily for our entire dining experience 2 of the tables around us were full of dirty dishes therefore we decided to clear out some of our dirty dishes at the other table to make room for our dessert plates, since there was absolutely no room on our table to even lay down a napkin. As we left we noticed not only was our view of surrounding tables those of dirty ones with mountains of dirty dishes, but there were plenty other tables with the same issue around the restaurant. There were various empty tables as we left and there were also a lot of customers waiting to be seated. I am uncertain if they are short staffed and can't clean up tables or don't have sufficient chefs to cook food for a full restaurant, but one thing is certain: there were more than enough and even extra tables to seat all those waiting customers and more. In conclusion if you like horrible customer service, average tasting food, view of dirty dishes during your entire dining experience, bringing your own drinks/salsa to a restaurant(or anything you need that isn't placed in your initial order), waiting for a table when there are plenty of empty tables then La Barca Restaurantes is for you and ask for Chantal.
