While at the Buford Highway farmer's market, looking for dinner, I saw a review that started with "It's hidden behind the QT on Buford highway", and curiosity got the best of me, which led me inside La casona Colombian Restaurant. I decided on a to go order, and grabbed an order of Tostones con queso ($4.50) as well as a cup of their beef soup ($4) In truth I just wanted an order of Tostones plain, but I didn't see them on the menu, so I went with the tostones covered in cheese. They came in a serving of four and the cheese was a mixed bag. It made the tostones soft, and this was the time it took to walk from the restaurant to my car. I tried two of them and both were very soft and ultimately I threw the other two away. I like my savory/salty tostones crispy. If I go back i'll see if I can get them without cheese! La Casona redeemed themselves with their beef soup, which came with tender strips of beef, nice chunks of potato, carrot strips and a few little green bits that I couldn't make out. I loooooved this soup, the broth, the flavor, and I was just sad that there wasn't more of it. Customer service was quick and friendly, and while the parking lot is small, it wasn't very full so spaces were easy to come by. Getting out of the lot onto Stewart road (the street sandwiched between 285 and immediately before you reach quick trip) wasn't bad in either direction. If i'd have purchased the soup alone, La Casona Colombian Restaurant would get 5 stars from me, but the tostones dragged them down a bit. I'll definitely be back to give these guys another chance though!
