avoid that place! Please avoid at all cost!
I went to this restaurant for lunch. I wanted to treat my daughter as she was very brave with a hospital procedure today and this was her favourite restaurant for almost 9 years now.
The restaurant was almost empty (only 2 tables with customers) and I ordered an £18 menu and a drink for my 13 years old daughter.
I wasn't hungry, so I only ordered a drink for myself. The waitress took the order and came back saying that the chef said I have to order another menu or something else to eat separately, as I sat at the table.
I politely explained that I am not hungry and I will not order anything else except my drink.
She gave a mean look and when she brought my daughter's soup it was impossible for her to eat as she said it is really bad.
I taste it and it was absolutely horrible, it probably had 3 spoons of salt added!!!
The waitress saw the full bowl of soup on the side, she only asked if she can take it, I told her that my daughter couldn't eat it because it was so salty and to tell the chef that I the soup had a very bad taste; she took it away.
Every time the waitress brought us something we both said "thank you" but she NEVER answered.
Another waitress (a nice one this time) brought us the main course, a burnt mini steak, even if I ordered a medium-well one.
In the end, they've said
I payed £29 for an unedible soup, one burnt mini steak, the smaller cake slice and 2 drinks.
I haven't made a complaint right then because I didn't wanted to embarrass my daughter.
I had my daughter in tears when I told the waitress that I the soup was bad (she is a very polite child)
My family used to love Lanterns, we've been their customers for 9 years, but today 's dinner was the worst experience of my life.
Myself In worked for 10 years in 5* Hospitality Industry and I know how to treat a guest, I am not looking for any freebies and I am not interested in fights.
Such a disappointment and lack of respect for customers! My rating is 0.
My family and friends will never step again in that place!
They only asked ( Politely as ever I may add ) for a small roast turkey dinner each with no meat on one of the plates due to my dads health concerns. This apparently is something they are either unable to do or don't quite understand. They were treated with contempt and disrespect. My parents were given a luke warm meal on one plate, My mum given an empty cold plate and then abruptly told "Share that!" The gravy was on the meal and not in a jug like you would expect so dad had to sit there and attempt to pour some of the gravy off his plate to mums.
They sat there and felt embarrassed & self conscious throughout their time there. This is not the first time they have been treated poorly in there & by the same woman I may add. Didn't get a refund or an apology! Dad insisted on paying for one meal as that is what they were given. Steak & Omelette soon after could not have been more welcoming & for £5 less for a lovely hot meal each could not have treated my parents better! We as a family will not be using Lanterns again!!! Strongly not recommended!????
Seriously though, What's so difficult to understand about wanting two roasts. One without the meat???
