We went for the Chef’s Table tasting menu tonight and it was outstanding. Every course was wonderful, with bold but balanced and fun flavors. The rarebit was so rich and comforting. The Parisian gnocchi itself was so pillowy, and serving it with the snap peas, chorizo, and ramp puree gave it such a satisfying blend of textures. The lamb was unbelievably tender with a gorgeous glaze on top, very nicely balanced by the cabbage beneath. The rice served alongside it was so good it could have been its own dish. And then there’s the dessert, which was creamy and crunchy at once, with a lovely nutty flavor that was perfectly brightened by the mint oil. Damn I wish I could eat that again. As a final note on the menu, we were absolutely stuffed when we left. The portion of lamb was particularly generous. Mike and the team make dining there fun. You can tell they love what they do, and they want everyone else to have a good time while they’re at the restaurant. Parking was easy (and plentiful) in their free lot across the street. It’s easy to find, but you can check their website for the exact address of it. The tasting menu will change over time, so you might not experience the menu I had if you go for it, but I trust that everything else on the menu must be outstanding based on it alone. We had been trying to come to Lena several times but the parking is horrible if there's a game. We ordered the mushroom appetizer and were shocked at the cost for a couple of mushrooms on a piece of bread. When we were trying to decide on an entree , the waitress told us that the plates were meant to be shareable , so we ordered the swordfish skewers and the chicken. The food tasted, okay, nothing special , still kind of confused , where they thought that two people could share one of these plates when there wasn't even enough food on each plate for one person for dinner. When we left, still hungry, we went to Grandma Bob's for some amazing pizza. Once is definitely enough for Lena.
