We came for the dinner on time, about 20:45. There were four of us.
1. Restaurant staff offered us a table where there were only two normal seats. The staff said: “No more seats and chairs, sorry”. Then staff put to this table two stumps. Yeah, that stumps of a tree! The area (about 20x20 cm) and height (around 30-35 cm) of this stumps was allowed to sit child only! We had a long discussion with the manager – we asked to bring normal chairs and also to move the nearby table so that we could sit. Manager didn't want to do that. Guests at the nearby table kindly offered to move their table, I thank them for that… Manager found the chairs and brought them to the table. The clock was 21:25…
2. Dinner was supposed to start at 21:00, and at 22:45 we had to be at the pier for the cruise on the Seine (it was a pack: dinner + cruise). As I said above, the clock was 21:25 but the buffet still had no appetizers, and only soft drinks were on the table. At about 21:45 appetizers had appeared at the buffet, and formed a long line (or queue, about 15 minutes) after that. At 22:20 there were no main dishes, and the line (queue) had formed again. I have a photo of this line (or queue). Staff said: "We have no chef at the workplace, and we didn't expect so many guests. We'll cook something." At 22:40 grilled chicken breast appeared in the buffet. And that's all! And this chicken breast wasn’t enough at all. We didn’t have time to eat the main course because we were limited in time due to the cruise start. Dessert was not served prior to our departure from the restaurant to the pier.
I believe that this service wasn’t provided properly and this is the fault of the restaurant. I want to appeal to the Supervisory authorities of France that such outrages never happen again. We paid exactly the same money as other guests but we were in a situation where it was not possible to relax properly (lack of normal seats; then baby stumps instead of normal chairs). Our New Year dinner was spoiled by the full disrespect of the staff and the late supply of food, in consequence of which we just didn't have time to have dinner.
