0/5 Stars – One of the Worst Dining Experiences I’ve Had in Dallas I made reservations for Sunday brunch at Little Daisy expecting a quality experience befitting a restaurant inside the Thompson Hotel. Instead, it was a complete disappointment from start to finish. To their credit, we were seated promptly. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. I ordered a Bloody Mary that tasted almost entirely of olive brine. It was overwhelmingly salty, completely unbalanced, and one of the worst Bloody Marys I’ve ever been served. To start, my wife and I shared the miso banana bread because it sounded unique and promising. What arrived looked and tasted like a mass-produced loaf that had simply been drizzled with icing. We each took one bite and pushed it aside. Based on our server’s recommendation, I ordered the frittata. It arrived flat, dry, and noticeably overcooked. I asked for hot sauce, but it never came. While waiting, I watched our server standing at the bar chatting instead of checking on our table. My wife ordered the Creole Shakshuka Skillet. She took one bite and immediately decided she couldn’t eat it. It simply wasn’t enjoyable. At that point, we had barely touched our meals. When the server returned, we asked for the check. Not once were we asked why two nearly untouched entrées and an untouched appetizer were sitting on the table. There was no attempt to make things right, no curiosity, and no concern. We quietly paid our bill and left. Poor food can sometimes be redeemed by attentive service. Poor service can sometimes be forgiven if the food is exceptional. Little Daisy managed to fail at both. Given the quality of the food, the lack of attentiveness, and the complete indifference shown when two customers left nearly an entire meal uneaten, I can’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. We won’t be returning. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $50–60

When in downtown Dallas for meetings, I had the pleasure of having an impromptu lunch at Little Daisy and was exceptionally surprised. My server, Marybel, was as delightful as she was helpful. I expect servers to know menus well enough to be able to guide an unfamiliar guest through, and Marybel surpassed those expectations. She asked me questions about my tastes, preferences, and any allergies- she instilled enough of a confidence in me to ask her to bring me what she thought I’d enjoy most. After a lovely coffee -she made herself!- she brought me an avocado tartine plate. It was light and refreshing, and the texture of the bread was exceptional. She then brought me a croissant with jam and a fruit plate, informing me that all breads are made in-house at Little Daisy- and it shows. Lastly she served me a miso banana bread, something I would’ve never ordered on my own but was distinct and delicious. The restaurant itself was very charming, warm, and welcoming. The highlight was truly the service: Marybel was able to juggle all the guests in the dining room whilst also being able to check-in and give me what felt like a personally catered experience. In a world of rushing to the next stop, the next meeting, Marybel at Little Daisy is a reminder to stop and smell the flowers. Can’t wait to return.
