We visited Lola Rouge last night. Three of us popped in for a post dinner cocktail about 8.30pm on a Friday night. It wasn’t busy, but no-one came to our table to take our order. No bother, we happily popped up to the bar to order. We waited over thirty minutes for our drinks after we ordered them. Two margaritas and one gin and tonic. When they arrived they were undrinkable. The gin and tonic tasted like cucumber water and the margs were like water mixed with tequila. We couldn’t taste any lime at all. We drink a lot of cocktails and a lot of margaritas, and as my friend said “I’ve never met a margarita I couldn’t drink, until now”. That about sums it up. Before we left, I popped back up to the bar to kindly let the staff know that our drinks were not very nice, and that they were undrinkable. I explained that I thought it was better to let them know, rather than just never coming back. The bar staff thanked me for my feedback, and carried on making drinks. There was no apology, and no offer to put things right. We left with three virtually untouched drinks left on the table. I’ve been to Lola Rouge a bunch of times, and have stayed at Naumi. The standard of service has slipped and the quality of drinks has tumbled down so far that I can’t even see the bottom. Needless to say, we won’t be back. Nice atmosphere for rining. Food was tasty sad good variety of shared plates. We particularly enjoyed the crispy eggplant and the raw yellow fin tuna. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $40–50 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

A truly chic and elegant spot with one of the best ambiences in town. The lounge is stunning, and their themed high tea—updated every few weeks—is beautifully curated. The savoury finger food was exceptional and definitely the highlight. Service was mixed: while some staff were warm and attentive, a few lacked strong customer service skills. A notable drawback was the limited tea selection during high tea, as several options from the menu were unavailable. That said, if you’re looking for great savoury bites and well-crafted cocktails in a stylish setting, this place is well worth a visit. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $40–50 Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5
