My Mom and I finished up with an appt in Morristown early enough to enjoy a nice dinner without the dinnertime rush. I was excited that we both agreed on the Longhorn Steakhouse because it had been so long since I had been to one. Neither one of us had had anything but a Glucerna shake or two for substinance during the day. We were both starving and looking forward to enjoying a good steak dinner. We both decided to have the petite filet, baked potatoes with butter and sour cream; I believe Mom had soup, I ordered a salad. I also ordered the herb and cheese stufffed mushroom caps for an appetizer to share. I liked the stuffed mushrooms even though it was overloaded with cheese. Mom didn't. My first salad was so full of croutons that my fork could not find a bit of lettuce to pierce. I gave up and asked for another one without croutons. My bad, the replacement salad looked beautiful, but I could not eat it either because it had enough dressing for several more salads. I had been craving a good salad... I don't remember their exact verbage, but Mom's filet was not pink in the middle as she ordered, but without any pinkness anywhere, it was cooked through and through. And it looked dry too. Her potato was like mine, not even warm to touch. I asked because these potatoes looked great, good enough to be in a food commercial! I was told that Longhorn Steakhouse uses real butter and Daisy Sour cream. Salt FYI: Pink Himalayan Salt and real butter are my two favorite additions to almost every food. I had my shakers ready to use when our main course arrived. But my filet had so much seasoning on it it that it was inedible. Seasoning, Not Salt and Pepper. Thankfully it was undercooked and not over cooked. Why would anyone use anything but salt and pepper on a filet mignon?? I don't recall the menu mentioning seasoning. My heart sunk and my stomach was growling, well at least I had a baked potato to eat before we headed back home to Rogersville. And that baked potato looked beautiful; it had been baked like it should have been with a hard salted exterior and lots of glistening butter and sour cream; perfect and fabulous just the way I like them!! BUT my perfect baked potato was not even warm enough to eat. Then I noticed that it should have had steam coming up from the top of it... but it didn't. I was so disappointed and still hungry for that great salad that I almost had; and that beautiful baked potato, I don't get either; and they fabulous perfectly seared filet mignon seasoned with only salt and pepper... and I still had an hours drive home. This was Last Thursday of June of 2024, we had Arrived around 4:30 pm, it was Still Very Quiet, People Had Not Arrived Yet For Their Dinner Rush. We were at the Longhorn Steakhouse and We Had Ordered 2 Filet Mignon, 2 Baked Potatoes, 2 Salads; Very Simple Foods that They Should Be Able to Prepare Perfectly In Their Sleep. I shared my Great Dissapoint with our server who understood and brought the manager to our table, who offered to remake our dinners herself, but we'd had enough food and I didn't want to drive home with a full stomach and on too many carbs. And I needed to get home to my FurrKids sooner than later. So we declined and she adjusted our bill, which was appreciated. I've always had great meals at the Longhorn Steakhouse in Kingsport, and other cities, so I will stick to those. FYI: My Mom's 85, she hates to turn on anything but the convection preset toaster oven, or the microwave, because she forgets how to use things, but every filet and steak she has cooked for me and my father in the past 6 years has been perfect and Med Rare. Parking: The closest Handicap Walkways and parking are at the end of the mall. I did not see this and parked along the mall side where we had to walk further from the restaurant to be able to reach the walkway for wheelchairs and walkers. My Mom uses a walker, cannot lift her leg high enough for this location's big mall height curbs Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options: Free parking lot
