"Not bad, not great." - Chernobyl Ok, look, this isn't gonna be fine dining, in fact, this is where you go when you got $21 to your name and a recent release bracelet from the treatment center. This is not a criticism, per se, we need these places to eat when we're not at our best. This food feels like it's straight outta recovery. Anything that's been deep fried tastes just fine, and a few Chinese menu staples are perfectly edible. But unless you get there right after they turn the dish, you might have to experience food that's been sitting there a while. The sushi bar stands out tho- everything we tried tasted really good. The dessert servings were dessicated and didn't taste of anything except existential dread. The spring rolls tasted like they've been made inside of a ginger processing facility. I cannot fathom whose idea it was to keep sugar donuts in the same warmer as garlic toast. If you're someone that likes donuts with a hint of garlic, this is the place for you! The best thing in the place is the fresh vegetables. I really appreciate how difficult it is to run a buffet in the first place, and I'm sure there's a thousand small reasons things are the way they are. No shade to the service staff who are wonderful and doing their best. I am thankful for the story I get to tell, but I most likely will not be returning here. I've eaten at Lucky Buffet (previously China Sun) for over 15 years. The menu is the same as it was with China Sun and is diverse and very good. If you go in for the buffet you have a wide selection of foods from various asian selections including from a very good custard mussel to broccoli beef. You also have a good sampling of sushi items and a well stocked fresh salad bar. To top this all off is the Mongolian Grill which is well prepared. If you are a senior you get a discount (you need to say you are a senior at checkout). I think this place is on of the best kept secrets in Eugene/Springfield. Highly recommended!
