Mons has a really unique atmosphere and is a fun place to stop for a drink if you’re exploring Rome at night. The interior has a cool ruin bar vibe, with walls completely covered in graffiti, posters, stickers and messages from visitors over the years. It feels quirky, relaxed and full of character, making it a great place to spend some time with friends. One thing to know before you go is that the ordering system is a bit unusual. First, you have to pay at a separate cashier, and only then do you take your receipt to the bar to collect your drinks. It works well enough once you know how it operates, but it can be a little confusing for first-time visitors. The only real downside for me was the drinks. They were quite expensive for the size, and I expected a little more considering the price. The cocktails were decent, but they felt rather small and didn’t offer particularly good value for money. Overall, I’d recommend Mons more for its atmosphere than for the drinks themselves. If you’re looking for a stylish, informal bar with an alternative, artsy decoration and a lively crowd, it’s definitely worth a visit. Just be prepared to pay a premium for relatively small cocktails. The experience is enjoyable, but you’re paying as much for the ambiance as for what’s in your glass.
