Dull ambience in the name of candle light dinner for a South Indian cuisine. Uthappam was not fully cooked. Was able to taste raw batter. Plate wasn’t cleaned properly. Felt like dull lights are there to camouflage poor food and non cleaned plates! Shop was difficult to find as it was in a different name (Tawa Indian cuisine). Definitely not a South Indian cuisine. Looks like some North Indian took over South Indian dishes. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2 Vegetarian offerings: Vegetarian menu or section

Indian food is horrible here. Don’t get fooled by the Madurai name. They’ve no clue how to make South Indian food. Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

To celebrate Valentines this year, we decided to try Madurai South Indian Cuisine at Stamford.For appetizers we ordered Dahi Vada (7$) - the yogurt tasted amazing although I wished the vada tasted a bit more fresh.Nothing beats the taste of dosa here. We tried the Ghee Roast Masala Dosa (11$) and the Mysore Masala Dosa (12$). Both were exceptionally good with just the right flavors. By the way, these are XXL size dosas - totally worth the cost. The sambar and the chutneys could have been better I feel (especially if they were warmed prior to serving).Altogether the ambience, staff service (and the mango lassi) was satisfactory. And last but not the least, I loved their selection of music! Will definitely come back to try the other items on the menu soon. :)
