Fantastic Resort , the only place to stay in Exmouth. I to like the reviewer 3 yrs ago eho bad mouthed this resort, stay in resorts all over the world. So I think I can say that no, it's not the Crown Towers (even thought you pay that much) but this is remote Western Australia. The staff are mainly backpackers from all over the world, so friendly and helpful. They do serve you drinks and food at the pool. The restaurant was fantastic, we ate many times serves delicious food, even has a vegan menu. We had two weeks staying at Mantaray and would highly recommend it to others. Well done Larry and staff for operating a great resort. For a resort that is +10 yrs old it's still in great condition. Love the heated pool for my 1km early morning swim.

Delicious quality meals and stunning romantic atmosphere. Worth the splurge here. Recommend the Surf and Turf.

I stay at hotels all over the world and this has to be one of the worst ever. Worst room accommodations, worst facilities & amenities, worst breakfast, worst WiFi, worst pest & rodent control, worst staff. Period. I've had better, more enchanting stays in Ft. Dodge Iowa, Marshall Minnesota or any other rural town in America. The hotels in South Wales England sheep herding towns are 10x better. First though I'll start with the pros: 1. Great chicken wings 2. Amazing view of the ocean 3. The prawns are very fresh 4. Red emperor fillet is a great snack Cons: 1. Service is terrible. Staff act as if you're unwelcome. They refuse to take your order at the pool. For each round of drinks -- you've got to make the wet and windy trek to the bar about 400 yards from your pool chair. The pool itself is infested with seagulls hoping to grab your food because the staff don't clear empty plates away either. Ultimately, it's not their fault though. It's Larry's. Larry has decided to hire immature backpackers on visas to staff this place and clearly hasn't trained any of them. They can barely make a Dark and Stormy or pour a draft beer. But hey, whatever makes Larry the most profit. 2. Management have a very "cheap" attitude. Nickel and dime you to death. 3. Buildings need a lot of maintenance 4. Beds are worn out and uncomfortable 5. Shower drains are clogged 6. Flys are everywhere. In the rooms. In the dinning area. All over your food. Dysentery anyone? 7. Michelle the front desk manager operates under very shady business practices designed to take as much money from you as possible. Trying to charge my card for thousands of USD in unauthorized, fraudulent room charges. 8. Their website is broken. When you put your billing details in, it jumbles up the details and makes it impossible to determine if you actually have a room. This is further complicated when you try to confirm booking details and the staff can't find the reservation in "the system." Good luck flying a bazillion miles to get here and just crossing your fingers that you've got a place to sleep. Avoid at all costs. Camping in one of the local campgrounds would be more enjoyable. If you insist on staying here: do so for as limited a time as possible. Get out to see the whales and then get the hell out. The management team here has gotten fat and lazy due to zero competition. The whale shark diving around this area creates incredible demand and this tiny town of 2k residents sees tremendous opportunities to make money. I estimate that the whale sharks themselves create at least $16M USD in boat tours alone. It's unfortunate that Michelle and Larry at Mantarays operate with such a petty outlook -- trying to squeeze every dime out of their guests and refusing to invest in modernizing their dingy hotel which still makes money on outdated website photos and zero alternatives in this desolate town which reminds me of Wolf Creek. Bottom line: go camping in Exmouth
