Everything was good as it always is however I picked out an item on the menu that cost $16.50 it was the patty melt and it came with one side . I was shown the list of sides and picked out onion rings . When I got my bill it was $21.84 . , In Ft Collins $16.50 menu item comes out to about $17.87 with tax ($1.37 in tax). I asked the waitress why my bill was so high. She told me that they another menu behind the bar that showed the price was higher with the tax on it but she couldn't find it. I told her that was bait a switch and is illegal she no it wasn't. She told me that I could take this issue up with the owner tomorrow. As I left I told one of the bartenders what happened and he told me that they charge more for onion rings and there is an up charge for paying with a credit card but, I wasn't told that by the waitress that took my order and I was not informed of the up charge for using my credit card, I had cash and would have paid with cash if I had known before hand. So here is the law on that: Yes. Under growing "junk fee" and honest-pricing laws enacted in states like Colorado and California, restaurants must clearly and conspicuously disclose mandatory service charges, operational fees, and automatic surcharges upfront before a customer orders. Hiding these fees until the final bill is a violation of deceptive pricing regulations. I have been coming here you many years and have never had nothing but great food ,service and Awesome karaoke nights. So that is why I am posting this and hope that we can come to some kind of fix for this issue. Here is something else I found out. Yes, it is illegal to charge a surcharge when you pay with a debit card at a restaurant.The Rules on Debit SurchargesNetwork rules: Major card brands like Visa and Mastercard strictly forbid adding extra fees or surcharges to debit or prepaid card transactions.No exceptions: This ban applies whether you enter a PIN or run the debit card as a "credit" transaction without a PIN. State and federal law: Laws across the U.S. (including Colorado statutes) and federal regulations prohibit charging service or processing fees on debit card purchases. What You Should KnowCredit vs. Debit: Restaurants are legally allowed to pass credit card processing fees onto customers in many states (capped at 2% in Colorado), but this never applies to debit cards.Cash discounts: Businesses can offer a discount if you pay with cash, but they cannot tack on an extra fee specifically for using a debit card.How to report it: If a restaurant charges you an extra fee on a debit card, you can request a refund, report the business to Visa or Mastercard, or contact the state Attorney General. Trash. Trash. Trash. Are bartenders even allowed to drink behind the bar because I saw more of that than serving drinks On VALENTINE"S DAY a young lady was crying at the bar being verbally and emotionally abused by her partner. The second she walked away he started in on me. Commenting on my age and looks. I said something to the bartender. She bought them two shots and gave me a glass of water. I guess Matt's place is just that dive bar where those kind of things go on. I don't hang out in places like that and I was disgusted by this man's behavior as should anybody be that walks in that place and she's a woman crying at the bar and does nothing
