Traveling to Del Rio from smSan Antonio so after a long day of weather delays and flooding, Memo's was exactly the kind of place we were hoping to find: authentic, welcoming, and full of tradition. Sitting alongside beautiful San Felipe Creek made for a relaxing setting, and after dinner we enjoyed walking down to the water and taking family photos. I ordered Blondie's Plate, and it was outstanding. The cheese enchilada was perfectly executed, the carne guisada was tender and beautifully seasoned with just the right touch of cumin, and both the rice and refried beans were excellent. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Tex-Mex combination plate, especially the chalupa, and my son is still talking about how good his bean and cheese taco was. The biggest surprise of the evening was the White Wine Margarita. Since they only serve beer and wine, I wasn't expecting much, but it may honestly be the best wine margarita I've ever had. The real highlight, however, was meeting Blondie herself. At 86 years old, she's still doing much of the core preparation in the kitchen. Spending a few minutes talking with her was every bit as memorable as the meal. You can feel the pride, tradition, and decades of experience that have made this restaurant a Del Rio institution. If I had one small suggestion, it would be that the flour tortillas didn't seem to be house-made, and while the chips were wonderfully crisp, the frying oil tasted like it had seen a few too many batches. Neither issue took away from an excellent meal, but with homemade tortillas and fresh oil, the experience would be nearly perfect. If you're looking for honest, traditional border-style Tex-Mex with wonderful people behind it, Memo's is absolutely worth the stop. We'll be talking about this meal for a long time, and it was the perfect first chapter of our Texas Manifesto adventure. Price per person: $70–80

Service and atmosphere is on point. Its a old building with lots of charm. However the food. Wow, might be the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I would say most people who are expecting good tacos, enchiladas, quesadiallas or even chips and salsa, I would go somewhere else (thats what i tried). I love the fact its been open for 90 years but after eating I have to wonder how they have been in business this long. I cant recommend it. Price per person: $10–20
