We really enjoyed the tagine special, we were so full doing the sharing option. It is so rich and perfectly paired with flatbreads, couscous, tzatziki, and a tomato,onion and cucumber mix. It was divine and perfect for winter! We enjoyed a bottle of Gabrielskloof Red wine “The Blend” which was lovely. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is how loud it was inside, we were seated upstairs so I am not sure if the sound echos from being seated there in particular but it was difficult to have a conversation being just the two of us as we could not hear each other very well. I’d also go to the loo before entering as the bathrooms are outside of the restaurant for the centre, and as a woman it feels a bit uncomfortable walking there alone at night but otherwise they are clean and well kept. All in all it is a lovely restaurant and even when they are full and busy the service is good and the food is divine! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: R 300–400

Regular customer at Merak and unfortunately still disappointed with the food quality for the price. I’ve raised this concern before and gave it another try tonight, but there was no real improvement. The service was fantastic — friendly, attentive and professional — but the food still leaves much to be desired. Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: R 900–1,000
