Fine dining comes to Marrickville thanks to Gelato Messina! Who would have thought? The Messina Creative degustation is an experience to be had. Every course is unique, every mouthful is amazing. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was intimate. It was mostly couples (us included) but there was also a table of 4 on the night. Firstly, the food experience started off with a wow. Bread and butter but this is Messina so you're not going to have an ordinal slice of bread. This mini loaf was something special. Sweet and salty, flakey crust and soft layers inside reminiscent of a croissant. You're advise to break apart and spread the delicious burnt butter gelato on it. Note that this isn't even part of the degustation count! This was followed by a procession of amazing food, all accompanied by a scoop of unique geloto flavours and refreshing paired drinks that all combine to fill your mouth with a wonderful after-taste. It's so hard to pick a favourite but the stand outs for me were the Crab stuffed Zucchini cannolo and the Kangaroo roulade. This is all topped off with an amazing dessert at the end (of course) in the form of the Messina cube. A Mondrian-esque parcel of pure delight. But that's not all. To finish off the meal you're presented with a Cherry Bomb. It's the perfect way to end a spectacular experience. The staff were an absolute delight. Ultimate professionals. They made the whole experience even better. This is a must do for anyone looking for a unique dining experience or a perfect date night.
