Great Food, Below Average Experience. Went to Milwalky Trace last night and tried multiple dishes. The service was somewhat slow I think because the kitchen was not able to keep up with the capacity (full house and full patio). Our waitress tried hard but didn't seem too experienced. So the service was slow but acceptable.
Back to the food: Excellent! We enjoyed the Gruyere dip with carmelized onion and bacon (can't miss on that one), the risotto, italian sausage, mozzarella; bacon wrapped dates (fantastic), caprese poutine (fancy french fries). All the dishes were excellent. Beer and wine were overpriced.
Now the negative. We were seated on the Patio. On community picnic tables. Our shared communal dining experience made it difficult to carry on conversation. And sitting on a hard slab of lumber with no back after a long day is a sure fired way to take the shine off an otherwise great meal.
